    Leadership

Leadership may be understood in multiple ways, but leadership in Learning and Education is based on a philosophy of the nobleness of the human spirit and soul, and the persistence and steadfastness of people in maximizing their potential.

What motivates people – what makes them tick – is a subject of perennial fascination. It is especially important for leaders in the educational industry to think about this question in some depth. However, Leadership embraces more than motivation:

    • Leaders make decision and announce it
    • Leaders sell decision
    • Leaders present ideas and invite questions
    • Leaders present tentative decision subject to change
    • Leaders present problems, get suggestions, make decisions
    • Leaders define limits, ask group to make decisions
    • Leaders permit subordinates to function within limits defined by superior

Lead we must and lead we shall, but in a way that exalts the self-esteem of people and recognizes the sacredness of their happiness on earth. Those leaders demonstrate a resolute determination to give shape to the vitality of people and lead them in good purposes, looking within their own hearts, overcome their own ignorance, and face outward to move the world.

When people think of leaders in an organization, they often think of people in high-ranking position such as the CEO, president, or general manager. While people in such positions might be leaders, it is important to understand that leaders exist at various levels in an organization, not just at the top!

    Learning and Techniques

Techniques in Learning should have simple goals. The trend of technique promotion in learning has generated two tough questions: "What type of training is necessary?" and, "How much training is sufficient?" Here are some training and development principles.

    • Trainees should learn to use techniques in a way that allows them to address the mission of themselves or their organization: learning to succeed. This means that trainers will need to learn the pedagogical (not just technical) priorities related to instructional techniques. It is not the plain availability or use of technique that ensures good learning practices and trainee success.

    • Learning of techniques should focus upon specific, mission-critical skills; trainee success will be borne out of the appropriate selection, precise mix, and proper use of instructional techniques.

    • A team-based methodology should be adopted in a way that allows organization to bring effective learning products to the trainees in a time- and cost-efficient fashion.

    • Training that is delivered virtually as well as face-to-face facilitates these goals while preserving the priority of good learning practice and a learner-centered education.

There is a need for highly skilled and productive personnel to shape economies all over the world. Trainees need skills that are flexible and relevant to the demands of today‘s societies, and to gain a combination of knowledge, practical and social skills and positive attitudes, as well as the ability to think and act independently, creatively and responsibly.
